Starting with the end
First the most surprising change is me quitting Arolla after 8 years. Starting point is after two years in Bouygues Telecom as a Tech Lead and then … nothing for 4 months.
At first it was just a bad schedule thing. Then I’ve waited 4 months to even have an interview - even had to introduce myself again to sales (!). I’m not counting a two months rescue mission which unfold pretty badly.
In the end, mid 2024, I’ve worked for ALD with an amazing PO but … I had to manage an indian dev team who already had its tech lead. So … after a lot of red flag raised, and nothing from Arolla for severak months, I decided to move forward.
I’m no the kind of guy who waits. I like to master the tempo. I only have one regret, it’s not having been on stage … .
My wife is becoming a dev
It’s really the most important change in my life above quitting Arolla. She started her new career path with Ada Tech School.
She picked up this package. Fortunately she get a work-study at RATP Smart Systems.
I’m doing my best to help. It’s not easy to help somebody you shared so much. Plus, she really wants to best me. Take a look at her github.
Tech lead for 2 years
I’ve been a lead for 2 years at Bouygues Telecom with amazing people … . I learnt so much, I owe them a lot.
I wrote a training course called Tech Lead Craft for Arolla at the time.
I was really proud of it. It’s been a pleasure to write it, and share it multiple times. A shame I had to let it go when leaving.
Learning about containers
I’m working a lot on devops stuff at the moment. I did purchase a dedicated server to learn … well, everything thank you Vincent for trapping me into this.
I started by creating rFactor 2 game server for my e-sport team, then I switched to podman. I’m learning on that.
I also had to refresh my linux memories of ssh, shell, bash … . Most of the knowledge was here, but I relied a lot on copilot to learn by example.
IT contractor market under pressure
This is the first time I feel the tension when looking for a mission. Arolla-Shodo change was a quick move.
Since Shodo pays you based on your daily billing, I’ll be really on the watch on Fnac daily rate move en 2026.
First real personal project
I’m working on a virtual pitwall. I had the idea from my e-sport team which didn’t have any race data to adjust strategies.
The acquisition plugin is here, up and working.
The hard work is on the portal to make it easy to use … . I don’t have much time to code.
